WORSHIP: Some Basic Questions Where
Should I Worship? Many would say: "In the church I was raised" or "Where there is warmth and friendliness." Others seek security in bigness or fellowship in smallness. Choirs, organs, architecture, and, yes, even the preacher's personality are prime considerations for some. But none of these criteria is adequate for a proper decision. Instead, look for a church where:
These qualities are where Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church begins. Why
Should I Worship? In the Scriptures, God's written Word, the one true God has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit both in the works of creation and of redemption. God the Father so loved the world that He gave His eternal Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). The Father and the Son have sent the Holy Spirit into the world that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. By the gift of His Spirit, people who once were separated from God because of sin have been given access to God that they might worship Him in Spirit and in truth. How Should
I Worship? Religious worship is to be given to God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is to given to Him alone and not to angels, to mere men, or to any other creature. Since the fall of man into sin, God is not to be worshiped apart from Jesus Christ. He is the Redeemer, the only Mediator between God and men. The reading and the preaching of the Word of God, prayer, the singing of psalms and hymns, and the proper administration of the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper are properly parts of the worship of God. God has appointed and set apart one day in seven, called the Lord's Day, for His worship and for the spiritual good of His people. Will you join us? |
